Bobst Introduces Vision CL Flexo Press Laminate Material Alternative
The Swiss company, Bobst Mex SA that specializes in substrate processing, printing, and converting equipment has just launched its new Cl flexo press. The press will support the company’s push for improved sustainability across its product range, the product can use either solvent or water-based inks. "With our new films, the idea is to have a thinner product but still have the same performance. Then we can transfer this into applications, cereal bars, pouches, etc. But then we have to address how to reduce the cost while delivering that higher performance,” says Eric Pavone, business development director at Bobst.
There will be an increase in the use of biodegradable plastics which will compete with paper solutions. The new product is biodegradable and compostable. “There are some grades that need 8 hours at 42C to start degrading. There are other plastic types which break down in an hour in water and sunlight,” Pavone says. Moving forward they are confident in their new press and films will increase their sustainability and recycling in general.
